Are plant-based burgers healthy? What do we do to know if a product is healthy or not? Are plant-based burgers healthy? How can we determine whether these types of foods are good for us?
One way to find out is to take a look at the ingredients label on the products. Are plant-based burgers healthy? Some burgers are indeed made with plant sources, but most are not! We often get false or confusing information about what is “natural” and what is “real.”
Did you know that many fast-food restaurants use “natural” flavorings instead of regular artificial flavors? These have chemical additives and preservatives that are unnatural and dangerous. The FDA advises consumers to seek out real foods whenever possible. Yet, the food industry continues to use synthetic substances in everything from bread to soup to meat. We are exposed to many chemicals and preservatives every day. That’s why eating healthy can be tough!
The truth is that burgers don’t have to contain artificial ingredients. We don’t need a “natural” bun to eat healthily! In fact, some people actually prefer using the bun on their burgers. The problem with many “natural” buns is that they contain wheat, which is wheat that has been grown with the use of chemical pesticides. These pesticides and preservatives may be bad for us, too!
Healthier choices include non-hydrolyzed wheat and a wheat gluten base. Look for a food processor that uses a wheat gluten base instead of one made with preservatives and pesticides. You also want to avoid anything that uses any preservatives, artificial coloring, or flavors. The reason is that artificial colors and flavors have been proven to be unhealthy. There is also new evidence that artificial dyes can be bad for us, even when used sparingly.
So, what can we do to enjoy all-natural products? Eating healthy doesn’t have to be difficult. Instead of purchasing frozen, pre-cooked or fast food products, turn to make your own healthy snacks and meals at home. Homemade ice cream, yogurt, and sorbet are great options. You can also make your own salad dressings, bread spreads, soups, beans and vegetables.
Plant-based burgers and junk foods don’t have to taste bland and boring! If you learn how to add flavor and vegetables to your foods, you can definitely create tasty and healthy snacks and meals for yourself. Vegetables are often overlooked in terms of flavor, but they add zip and zing to just about any dish. Carrots, celery sticks, beets and other leafy green veggies are high in vitamins and minerals that are essential to good health. In fact, leafy greens are some of the most nutritious foods available!
There is so much information available on the Internet on healthy eating. The bottom line is that eating healthy doesn’t have to be complicated. It’s easy to prepare low-fat and low-calorie meals from scratch. Why not spice up your meals a little more by making your own delicious plant-based burgers? No matter what recipe you choose, you are sure to be satisfied and have plenty of fun doing it.
I remember my mother always had “healthy” lunch boxes lined up for me when I was young. She would make healthy choices like cucumber slices with ham and cheese on top, or baked chicken breast with a tuna salad as a side dish. I still have lots of those boxes! And that’s not even the best thing about them! Did you know that you can find whole-grain bread, pasta and more online than you can imagine?
Healthy food isn’t just about what you put into your mouth. It’s about what you don’t put into your mouth. You may not like vegetables so much, but at least you can still enjoy meat, fish and poultry if it is made in a healthy way. However, the unfortunate truth is that many restaurant chains are selling unhealthy meat, fish and poultry. Even McDonald’s is unhealthy at times with their beef products. Why should you have to eat these types of foods when you could be enjoying something like an organic wheat berry shake instead?
Another reason why I think it is important to find delicious and organic plant-based burgers is that they are made with natural methods. These methods will not destroy the environment or the animals living in or near the land where the food is grown. It is also important to note that many organic burgers and shakes take less than an hour to prepare and cook. This is very convenient for busy people, who don’t have time to cook anyway! I can’t think of a better explanation as to why eating healthy has never been so popular!
Finally, when you eat food organically, you support local agriculture. This means you are helping to improve the world we live in. Organic farmers grow and harvest plants without using any chemical fertilizers or pesticides. This results in healthier products for you to enjoy. Who wouldn’t want to do their part in helping to improve the health of the planet and everyone else? I know I would!
